The theme is a mix of retro pixels and shades of green. For me it's symbolical of the new way we watch films. Essentially viewing pixels that paint larger images.

1Tyme4UrMynd from Catch Wreck is the first single off the ADHD project. I was drawn to the track because of its haunting rhythm and Wreck's lyrical departure from politics into more personal territory.

I wanted to highlight this transformation in the video by showing how physical matter changes. Whether it's the building being crushed or the blunt being burned theres a definite shift that I found beautiful, elegant and meaningful symbolically.

About the Helmsplitter Radio Program:
Daniel Fairclough and I came together over the summer and set out to create a radio show that was able to bring together spoken word poetry, real discussion and humor into an evocative one hour program. In the fall of 2010 we produced 12 episodes live on air at WECB. Each episode revolves around the guests and the work they produce. We had many talented MC's, Performance Artists, Spoken Word Artists come through. I can proudly say it was well worth the grind Dan and I put in. You can browse all the episodes here.

Solace by Jared Katsiane

Solace is a film by Jared Katsiane, local Boston based filmmaker. He crafted a great lyrical film about misguided youth and allowed me to use the 24 minute version of his original cut to create this 5 minute version for my editing class with Daniel Gaucher.

Solace was shot in 1998 on 16mm with a Krasnogorsk-3 Russian Camera. This was a great chance for me to construct a new narrative for the film, it was a challenge but I enjoyed cutting up someone else's vision in order to create a compelling and distinct narrative.

"Inbetween" is an experimental video project that combines short video clips taken by friends only using secondary cameras (cellphone cameras and webcams). We wanted to show moments in our lives that are elevated by the fact that they have been recorded. The video edit emulates how we presently consume media on our computers and how that in turn distorts the information given to us. "Inbetween" was envisioned as a video piece that could be viewed in an art exhibit, where the viewer could drift in and out of watching it. I worked with fellow Emersonians Jon Cortizo and Kristy Robinson. And a very special thanks to all the friends and family who contributed video clips.

Ricky Duran - Find A Way

"Find A Way" is a music video that came together via Jason Wu. Ricky Duran, goes to Berklee and is dropping a new album entitled "Blind the Beast" this month over at www.rickyduran.com. We shot in the Allston and Fenway area with the DVX100b and the Canon 7D which was handled by Milan Aviles. The track is a more on the pop rock side of things with its guitar riffs and breezy melodic chorus It turned out to be a great choice for a music video.

Jake is eating his cereal. It’s morning time and Gus, a ghost who has been haunting Jake for just over a month, accompanies him.

Int. The Kitchen
They sit across from each other in the kitchen.
A cold plastic jug of milk separates them.
Frustrated from being haunted for a month
Jake asks Gus the one question on his mind.
Jake
Could you just leave?
Gus (calmly)
I can’t, this is what I do
Jake
What? Watch me eat cereal every morning then follow me all day sorry I mean stalk me

We like to call it “Haunting”; it gives it that itty bitty extra

Gus Walks off

Int. A field of Green grass brings both Jake and Gus farther from the awkwardness of the kitchen to an environment filled with color.

Jake and Gus are spreading breadcrumbs to attract birds

I think I might go to Orlando
Maybe catch a few games get a sun tan go down to Disneyland get on space mountain, you know ive never ever been on that ride

I really don’t care if you get stuck in Epcot center

Jake looks towards Gus
Gus Seems almost Heartbroken

Gus looks down to a piece that he has thrown, it has an ant on it

Feeling spiritual, Gus snaps his fingers. Possessing the ant on the bread
Jake isn’t paying attention to Gus

Jake turns around only to not see Gus anywhere

Jake spots Gus as the ant

(In a squeaky voice)

Jake
Were supposed to be attracting geese not ants

Gus feels like he’s reached a new level of existence

It really makes you think, what if I had been born (pause) an ant

Jake hates philosphy and wants Gus to snap out of it

Jake squashes Gus
Gus Pops up behind him surprised Jake went so far

That’s just wrong, that ant had a bright future ahead of him, filled with blades of grass and bits of buttery bread

Oh I’m shaking

Gus is distracted from the argument by a passing flock of pigeons

Shh! I think I saw some pigeons
(Pause)
Jake and Gus Look towards the sky.

(Gus continues making bird sounds)
Gus, do you even knwo what a pidgeon sounds like?

Gus Gives Jake his full attention

It bursts with trees, color and beautiful green hills
Jake and Gus walk up the hill and take in the atmosphere of life.

A few years ago I got lost and ended up here
Hey Gus, what’s life after like?
Gus
The one big difference is that no one can see you
Jake

Gus
Im haunting you so it’s kind of like your privilege

Jake and Gus make it to the top of the hill. The view is humbling. Sitting on a rock they take in the panoramic view.

The Birthday Card

The sun peaks above Tiffany’s toes as they swing in the breeze, she spaces out on the On-its-side couch as she waits for Mike. A foosball table stands behind it.
It’s her birthday.

Mike shuffles fervently through a line of cards. The aisle is empty of b-day cards; suddenly Mike finds one, jolting out the CVS. He’s not to late to meet Tiffany.

Tiffany’s sandal toes are now accompanied by Mikes blue pumas. They watch the clouds hover above them. Tiffany hopeful eyes glance at Mike.

Mike
I got you something

Mike hands Tiffany the birthday card.
Tiffany smiles.
Opening the cards it reads:

THANKS FOR BEING THERE DURING MY PREGNANCY!

Tiffany eyes Mike with WTF written all over her face.
Mike had no clue.

At the foosball table they play the run around version. Mike and Tiffany converse as the run around taking turns on each side every couple of seconds.
Gasping for breath they talk.

Tiffany and Mike stand in front of a register.
The Cashier is staring into space.

Tiffany lets out a huff and leaves for Aisle 4 with Mike

They arrive at the middle of the Aisle. Each side is filled with cards.
Mike and Tiffany stare at a small square.

Inside the square it reads:
FILE COMPLAINT IN SQUARE BELOW

Mike and Tiffany look under the directions.
A small pad of post it notes is stuck to the wall along with half a pencil on a string.

Tiffany begins to scribble her colossal complaint onto the post-it note.
Finished she looks below it for further instructions.

NOW PLACE STICKIE NOTE IN BASKET BELOW

Looking down is a trashcan filled to the rim with complaints.
Tiffany knows what’s up but goes along with it, placing hers on the top.

See didn’t that feel better
Tiffany
No

Tiffany leaves, Mike follows

Tiffany lies on the on-its-side couch watching the sky.
Mike plays run-around foosball by himself.

Tiffany rereads her birthday card.
Looking at its back she finds what seems to be really small text.

Tiffany
Eh Mike what’s this say

Tiffany passes the card to Mike
Mike attempts to read it

Mike (reading it)
Mmmsiippoovaa

Tiffany knows it says something and that Mike’s translation stinks.

Holding a Magnifying glass to the card, Tiffany got it.

On the phone she dials the 800-complaint hotline as if it were 911.
Tiffany reaches someone.

Hi this is Tiff-

The person is an automated machine.

Machine
If this involves our “ Doggy Birthday card” Press 3
If this is about the “Almost Married!” Card Press 4
If this is about the “Menopause! just around the corner” Card Press 5

Tiffany waits patiently, as soon as she hears her card she dials in.

Tiffany finally reaches someone feeling like a shaken coke can.
Tiffany unloads about the card, The Card Employee stumbles around his office barely hanging on to the phone. Giving reassuring uhuhs and yeas, he looks for his dropped pen.

The Card Employee
I'm so sorry about this inconvenience miss

Tiffany listens

The Card Employee
I tell you what, I'm gonna talk to my superior and figure this whole thing out,
I'm sure that we can send an apology letter out
Tiffany
An Apology Letter!
Today’s my Birthday!

The Card Employee seems to have dealt with this before; out of thin air he creates something to shut her up.

The Card Employee
It must be your lucky day!
My boss just walked in and he said we could ship you a complimentary basket of chocolate

Tiffany is suspect

No stuffed animals?

The Card Employee rolls his eyes

We have Elephants or Flamingos
Tiffany
Either one would be nice

Now all I need is your name and address

Tiffany is now happy

The Card Employee hasn’t written any of her information down and has no intention of sending her a basket of chocolate or stuffed animals.

Tiffany joins Mike on the Couch

Tiffany feels like a million bucks.

Staring up at the clouds, Tiffany kisses Mike on the cheek.
